Drawing from a lifetime of boating experience throughout New Zealand and the Pacific,
Mike Rendle has written a book designed to demystify the process of buying a boat and learning how to use it.
It is a book packed-full of colour, description, diagrams and detail. It starts by explaining nautical terms before taking the reader through buying a boat, safety, equipment, boat operation, navigation, electronics and much more.
The style is easy to read, simple to follow and includes lots of tips and hints.
The book has three sections; the first covers nautical terms, then gives an understanding of boat types, before guiding you through the process of purchasing a boat.
The second section covers boat operation across three chapters, as well as a comprehensive look at equipment, safety, navigation, rules of the road at sea, water sports including diving and fishing, maintenance, weather, anchoring and marine electronics.
The final chapter suggests places to go boating. There is coverage of some of this country's boating highlights and recommendations on places for you to visit throughout the country.
